In this podcast from CBC’S Midday Cafe with Leonard Linklater, Dr. Camilo Alejo discusses the latest research on how Indigenous-led conservation projects outperform federally and provincially protected areas on conservation goals.
“When the government provides financial support to Indigenous-led initiatives you can even see immediate effects and more positive effects than those that you may find in a government-managed protected area,” said Camilo Alejo a post-doctoral fellow at Concordia University and the lead author of a study published in the journal Earth’s Future.
