Dr. David Rolnick part of 2021 Cohort of Canada CIFAR AI Chairs

Congratulations to Dr. David Rolnick for being named as part of the 2021 Cohort of Canada CIFAR AI Chairs.

Twenty-nine international researchers working at the forefront of Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be provided funding by the program this year to advance knowledge in a “wide range of areas, including machine learning for health and responsible AI.”

Says Dr. Rolnick, “I am thrilled to join the CIFAR AI Chairs program, which brings together some of the world’s foremost researchers in AI. This community also represents an exceptional opportunity for synergy between research, industry, and policy, which is essential for enabling impactful AI work on topics such as climate change.”

As Scientific Co-Director for Sustainability in the Digital Age, Dr. Rolnick advises on initiatives that target system changes for a climate-safe, sustainable, and equitable world, in line with the objectives of the CIFAR AI Chairs program.

To date, the Canada CIFAR AI Chairs program has funded over 100 of the world’s top AI researchers and continues to provide leadership in tackling global challenges through responsible AI with a focus on human rights, diversity, and inclusion.
