“This Pathways Forum focuses on the need for transformative change, through integrated and ambitious action across all targets of the global biodiversity framework, in order to ‘bend the curve’ of biodiversity loss.
David Leclere (IIASA) presents his recent work on scenario development for reversing the decline in terrestrial biodiversity, and the urgent lifestyle changes, technological progress and modifications in land use management this calls for. David Obura (CORDIO) explains how actions from local and Indigenous communities can contribute, and in many ways are essential, to reaching global biodiversity targets.
The speakers are followed by a plenary discussion exploring how cross-fertilization between local and global scales and better inclusion of social justice are fundamental to developing successful pathways.
This Pathways Forum was organized in collaboration with BioDISCOVERY, The Global Mountain Biodiversity Assessment (GMBA), and the Programme for Ecosystem Change and Society (PECS).”
